wednesday was the opening of momofuku noodle bar toronto, the first of 4 concepts to open in a three-storey glass cube in downtown toronto. reservations for shōtō also went live on wednesday, with the restaurant opening on saturday, september 22nd.
the logos for the restaurants—designed by the talented scott brower—are inspired by mon, the japanese equivalent of family crests. they are considered to be the first logos for businesses and families.
daishō roughly translates to “big and small” in japanese, where as shōtō, our 22-seat restaurant situated within daishō’s dining room, roughly translates to “small.” these concepts are seen in the two restaurants’ signage.
nikai—which means “second floor” in japanese—is our bar and lounge. nikai’s beverage team includes beverage director theresa paopao, bar adviser john debary and nikai bar manager michelle tham.
stop by momofuku noodle bar for lunch + dinner or make a reservation at shōtō. waiting it out for daishō or nikai? check @momofuku for info on opening dates!
